No more Hawaii Five-0 EVER!
Okay maybe not ever; assuming the world doesn’t end on Friday, it will be back in 2013.
I can’t wait season three.
(I believe it’s also a spoiler because Grace Park is there so that makes Kono alive and well)
Unless I watch this episode of Hawaii Five 0 again and force myself to watch it seriously this time, I cannot review it. While I highly enjoyed “Ua Hopu,” I just kept comparing it to Lost and imaging it was Lost (there were many similar scenes, shots and themes). Add in the James Bond reference, CIA kidnapping and Danny playing secret agent break out time (Mission Impossible or James Bond style), I just could not take it seriously. I enjoyed it, but I laughed through the majority of it.
Oh, there were comments like “what are you wearing” made by Danny to Steve (“babe” too), and many other husbands moments, that I could just not handle it in a serious capacity. I am sorry.
Earlier in the season, Hawaii Five 0 saw a brief cross over with CBS drama NCIS:LA. With the success of the NCIS spinoff it was only natural for the two shows to have another more in depth crossover event to help establish new fans for both series. So this week in a two part event the Five 0 task force and the NCIS LA division found themselves working together to stop a bioterrorist plot.
I don’t think I will ever understand why CBS felt it best to schedule its spring shows every other week. It drives me crazy, but what can we do about it?
When the episode first started, reintroducing Shelburne and Joe White, I was very excited for the show to begin re-exploring this storyline, but as Danny read Steve’s “Dear Danny” letter, my hopes were dashed. I remembered that Alex O’Laughlin would be off the show for at least one or more episodes due to spending time in rehab. I am assuming that his time off the show, will lead to his character making some discoveries, and I hope that when he returns, we will be privy to all new information, and hopefully new paths to follow in the storyline.
I love Hawaii Five 0 but it was hard to get into tonight’s episode. There’s been a break since the last new episode, and we’re back on break. I never like when networks schedule series with no rhyme or reason. I prefer a longer break, with a longer return run. One episode here and there at random times is not only confusing to keep up with the schedule, but also annoying to try and remember what happened when, and what happened last and how much time has past.
The Five 0 task force teams up with Scott Caan’s (Danny William) real life father in “Lekio” as they try to discover who killed a radio host.
In other news, Steve and Danny get a marriage counselor.
The married couple returns, as a local man participating in a reenactment is found dead.
Typically I’m not a fan of episodes of series that play the time shift game by flashing back and forward to tell the story, however I feel it worked very week for tonight’s episode of Hawaii Five 0, "I Helu Pu."
Hawaii Five 0 is not off to a good start in 2012. “Pu’olo” was another mediocre episode of CBS drama. The series has been trying to accomplish too many things within the hour episodes, leading poorly handled stories. Between trying to tell the story of Joe White, continue to solve the mysteries surrounding Steve’s father investigation and his mother’s accident, plus the case of the week, the writing has suffered. At this point it would best if they took a week to get back to the basics, and/or a week to just focus on the subplots. Either if written well would vastly improve the overall plot of the series.
