Brave New World (Part 1)

fringe, fringe orange, orange titles, fringe orange title,

In this game of skill one must have above all else, Patience. The board changes, but very slowly. The art of chess, the art is knowing when a piece is most valuable and then, in that very moment, being willing to sacrifice it. For in the vacuum created by the loss of what is most precious, opportunity abounds, influences maximize, and desire becomes destiny. For example, on this board, the most valuable piece is the bishop. Therefore, for the game to be won…

Nothing as it Seems

fringe, fringe orange, orange titles, fringe orange title,

Ever since Peter disappeared at the end of last season, and we were introduced to the altered timeline at the beginning of this season, I was always curious how the Fringe Divisions cases were the same or different due to the change. It has taken the majority of the season, but finally Fringe delivers what I’d been hoping for, and I was not disappointed.

"Nothing as it Seems" show how certain aspects of the universe outside Fringe Division and Massive Dynamic has changed. It seems in the Peter-less timeline, the villains were gaining the upper hand (slowly). David Robert Jones seems to finally be making a mark on things.

Where You Belong (#Together) [“A Short Story About Love”]

fringe, fringe orange, orange titles, fringe orange title,

I can not possibly review the episode, because it was perfect in every single way. The ending obviously helped that out, but honestly, the entire episode was phenomenal. The case was interesting, it further developed the relationships of the characters. Peter and Walter continued to bond and work together, in a beautiful way. Peter continued his observer quest, and I am quite pleased with the result. It proved I was correct in my theory all along, which is awesome. It also proved that Peter and Olivia belong together and it is their love (and others who love him) that kept him from being completely erased.

"A Short Story About Love" was beautifully written, acted and directed from start to finish. Even the ending which was a little cliche, fit well. They deserved a cliche, romantic encounter.

#ThankYouFringe

5/5

(I should add that Seth Gabel was phenomenal at playing a pinning Lincoln Lee, but I don’t actually get when Lincoln fell so in love with Olivia. He just met her a few months ago, and she barely pays any attention to him. She really has never returned his affection. I feel he saw Alt-Lincoln and Fauxlivia and thought he could have their closeness but they aren’t the same to people. Lincoln deserves someone who loves him, and Olivia can never be that for him. Olivia and Peter have been starcrossed lovers since they were children. Lincoln loves Olivia but he is not in love with her.)

Johnny McKee

alcatraz

Last night Fox aired the seventh episode of the freshman drama Alcatraz. In the episode, inmate Johnny McKee returned and immediately began killing people, as he took revenge for what was done to him a long time ago. For someone who doesn’t like bullies, Johnny McKee is a bully himself; he may not torture people for an extended period of time, but I feel killing them, is just as bad, if not worst.

Despite the fact that I am enjoying this series, I’m going to stop reviewing the series, at least for now.

Michael

glee, new directions, impossible things, blaine, kurt, rachel, artie, klaine, regionals, darren criss, finn, they kissed, chris colfer, darren criss,

After one week back earlier this month, Glee took another short break, before arriving with tonight’s all new episode. The appropriately named episode “Michael” paid tribute to the late King of Pop. While I love Michael, I feel I wasn’t as excited for this episode as everyone else. I knew it would be a good episode, all of Glee’s tribute episodes are, but no matter how great they were, they could never top Michael.

Enemy of My Enemy

fringe, fringe orange, orange titles, fringe orange title,

Fringe is off to a great start in 2012. Hopefully the storyline that has been set in motion, will be enough to save Fringe from cancellation and carry it into another well deserved season. Fringe is one of the smartest series on the air right now. It would be a crime to cancel it.

"Enemy of My Ememy" explores the growing relationship between the two universes as they must work together to fight a common nemesis, the ingenious David Robert Jones. As I stated last week, David Robert Jones, has always been my favorite guest star on Fringe (aside from Leonard Nimoy); his reappearance couldn’t come at a better time. It makes sense that some of the villains the Fringe team faced in the timeline we are accustomed to, would also exist in the new one as well. It will be interesting to explore the commonalities of this David Robert Jones versus the one we first met, and how these differences change things.

Yes/No

glee, new directions, impossible things, blaine, kurt, rachel, artie, klaine, regionals, darren criss, finn, they kissed, chris colfer, darren criss,

"Yes/No" was Glee’s first episode back from winter break. While it was a okay episode, as the first one back from some time off, it was relatively uneventful, despite having several storylines. The entire episode surrounded Will and Emma as they work on taking their relationship to the next level. Aside from the main Wemma plot, the rest of the episode was all over the place and a little unbelievable, even for Glee.

Terra Nova Finale

terra nova, fox, logo

Tonight on the two part series finale of Terra Nova… Alright, maybe tonight’s episode of Fox’s sci-fi drama wasn’t officially the series finale, but it does mark the end of the show’s first season. With ratings diminishing weekly, I do not expect Terra Nova to be picked up for any additional episodes, unless Fox’s two new midseason shows fare even worst. If things play out as such, it would make tonight the unofficial series finale.

As I’m sure readers of this blog are aware by now, I have been losing hope and faith in Terra Nova since the Pilot episode. Tonight’s episodes were no different.

I can summarize the first one hour and fifty-five minutes in two words: pointless and predictable. Neither of these two words should be new descriptions of the show at this point. However, the last few minutes left me with a one word description: potential.

The 23rd

new girl, zooey deschanel

I don’t know what it is this season, but Fox’s shows are lacking in the good writing. Much like new fellow new comer Terra Nova, New Girl has potential but fails to deliver on it.

Of the 9 episodes that have aird so far, I’ve found maybe 2-3 enjoyable. The rest left me feeling like I wasted an thirty minutes of my time. Tonight’s episode “The 23rd” was no different.

There isn’t much I actually did enjoy out of tonight’s episode. I think the show is moving too quickly. It’s spending too much time focusing on Jess and her “dorkness” and very little time actually developing the characters. For instance, we haven’t seen enough of Jess and Justin Long’s character for me to develop an attachment for their relationship. So their relationship falling apart over the course of the episode, didn’t intrigue me at all. Mostly I was just upset that Justin Long was leaving. I’ve enjoyed seeing him on my television, even on such a so so comedy.
